It all started on a stark and lonely Island--his name was John the Revelator--and he was having a heavy vision--in fact, many of them. Weird Beasts, violently clashing armies, and Nations rising. "and I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon." Rev 13:11. A "beast: in prophecy represents a " kingdom". Dan 7:23. When a "beast" comes up out of the "sea" it represents, in prophecy, as rising amid "many peoples and multitudes"(a highly populated area). Rev 17:15. To come out of the earth is just the opposite. So here we have a nation springing up out of the wilderness--instead of overthrowing other powers to establish itself--from previously unoccupied territory. A country discovered NOT conquered. Instead of coming from the blood soaked land of Europe, it came quietly, peacefully like a "lamb". What nation of the New World, rose into power--giving promise of strength and greatness that would fit this description of John's?--Of course, the United States."and he had two horns like a lamb". Young, gentle, and with civil and religious freedom--and the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution reflect these noble views. These principles = greatness. ???
