Newspaper Articles

This page has the completed articles written in the newspaper.  Due to the nature of the published articles in the newspaper, being religious, various people view the content as controversial.  Rather than sowing discontent in the community, I use those articles to entice people to learn more about what God has said.  Here we have the rest of the article.

And the Bible says....

God’s Opinion?

Should men refer to God’s Word as opinion?  I can see serious problems doing so.  In the minds of men, opinions are very relative, meaning everyone has one.  We have determined that none of men’s opinions are necessarily right for “everyone”.  If I don’t agree, then it is ok for me to reject your opinion.  But the added affect is that you are to approve me for rejecting your opinion.  We both can do our own thing and not condemn either of us.  But is God’s point of view the same as one of ours?  Is there a difference between what God says, and what some man says or thinks?   While I write about this in this article, it is only a partial response.  If you are interested in our topics, please visit our website: www.histruth.net, and click on the Article heading and read the complete article in its entirety.

I believe there is a difference in the power or as the Bible refers the authority behind anything and everything that God says.  Just because I or any man says that something is right and good, doesn’t mean that it is.  There is the question of whether that statement is true or not.  Is there any power/authority behind the statement? Let me illustrate this point.  I’ve sat in religious discussions hearing opposing positions on subjects, and both are believed by their memberships, but what makes either of them right?  Many times people perceive a position is right because it is something that appeals to them.  They like what they heard.  But what was the source of authority behind the positions? When was the last time you heard some preacher shout out to a terrible storm or tornado, “Peace be still”, and that storm calm immediately?  Why doesn’t it?  Yet, the Son of God, spoke to such a storm on the sea, and it immediately calmed.  He spoke with this power or authority I’m speaking of.  Was that a miracle? Absolutely!   It was possible because Jesus spoke with authority, as one of the Creators, Genesis 1, and John 1:1-3.  He was the spoken Word in creation.  Note that when He spoke things happened!  Since all things were created by God’s design, surely He knows how all things are to function properly, and it wouldn’t be a matter of opinion.  Matthew 15:9 speaks of men “teaching for doctrines the commandments of men”, meaning God’s authority didn’t support it.  Romans 1 speaks of men who rejected God as authority and created their own god to worship, where they would have the power behind the god.  Paul’s response in verse 16, was “I’m not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God, ….” .  So when men speak strictly the gospel of Christ, they are using the power of God in doing so.  It is not merely man’s opinion.  Men must use care in expressing the complete teaching that God has made within the context.  To alter it, being the truth, makes it become a false teaching, the doctrine of man.

God didn’t leave His Truths to be left up to interpretation by men.  Again, this is just another matter of opinion.  2 Peter 1:20-21, states that “holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Spirit…”, meaning God the Spirit gave them what to say, and they spoke.  Jesus, while here, said the same thing that the words He spoke came from God the Father.  Those inspired men of the Scriptures, were just vessels to speak on behalf of God the words given them.  Coming from the mind of God, we can search the Scriptures and see the consistency in God’s character, and truths, no matter the time-frame.  The words of texts aren’t from various men, but from God, simply given to various men, approximately 40 writers.  The Holy Spirit searches God the Father’s mind and reveals to men the desires, thoughts, and intents of God, His Will for man. I Corinthians 2:10.

God holds mankind accountable to His Will/Law/Opinion, etc.  We are bound to His desire, to fulfill them, John 12:48-49.   We will be judged.  We read of an illustration in the book of Job.  God had considered or judged Job, and presented him to the Devil.  After God created all things, He declared all things as good, by His design.  2 Timothy 3:16-17 declares that He inspired men to give us the paths of our life, to know righteousness.  By these scriptures we know how to correct our broken life, broken because we haven’t lived up to His expectations.  John 17:17 says that His Word is truth!   The definition of truth in the dictionary is “FACT”.  Opinions are not typically considered as fact, because it is relative to the person making the statement, or holding the position.  Anyone who attempts to alter truth, actually establishes an opinion, in opposition to the truth.  Truth continues on and never can be destroyed.  Ie.  Miracles are events that take place outside of the laws of nature.  That law of nature is a “truth” of God.  They were used to establish God’s authority behind what was being taught, John 20:  . But following that “sign”, the law of nature continued forward and is still continuing today, because it is a “truth” or “fact”.  Man’s opinion may be true, but it is true because God is the one that established it as truth.  Our opinion has no power behind it unless it is truth from God.  So Solomon stated, “Fear God and keep His commandments, for that is the whole duty of man.” Ecclesiastes 12:13-14.

Whether you consider God’s thoughts as His opinions, we must realize His are always true, and law.  They are such because they are according to His power and authority.  If it is opinion, it is not like man’s to be considered relative.  In our continuing articles here, we shall consider these facts, starting with nature itself.  Be sure to visit our website:  www.histruth.net, to consider the rest of this article.
